A company recycles monoi to replace fuel for their truck
What if monoi were the cure for the pollution that is ravaging the planet? The world is in serious danger of pollution, and it's up to each and every one of us to take responsibility for preserving it. A Tahiti-based company has understood this individual responsibility and has decided to save humanity in its own way. It's a very curious innovation: the company in question has decided to start recycling its old stocks of rancid oil. Its delivery truck now runs on monoi. How is this possible, and what are the expected benefits? Find out in this article.
Monoï: more than just an oil, an alternative to polluting fuel
Monoi oil is a virtuous oil from French Polynesia. It is renowned for the miraculous effects it can have on the skin, as well as on dry, dehydrated hair. It is made fromcoconut oil, in which tiare flowers are macerated. In addition to its softness for the skin and relaxing effect, a French company has just revealed another of monoï oil's secrets: it can also be used as a fuel.

The process for substituting monoi for fuel
One of the motivations of the company in question was undoubtedly to develop a less polluting mode of transport. It's well known that the gas produced by a car contributes enormously to environmental pollution. As a result, it contributes to global warming, as well as polluting the air we breathe.
So it didn't take much motivation for a local organization to come up with an original and innovative solution. To get their truck running on monoi, they had to recycle their old stocks of rancid, used oil. Then, to make it run like clockwork, they filtered the oil and mixed it with 50% diesel.
It was this strange mixture, to say the least, that produced a solution that could be used in the company's truck. The company spotted the opportunity and thought about adapting its engine to meet the needs of this biodegradable fuel. And the result is the one you all know.
The benefits of using monoi as fuel
When we try to analyze the fuel that was consumed before the company embarked on its recycling project, and the fuel that is used now, it's clear that the situation is no longer the same. In fact, every year the company recovers no less than 2 tonnes of oil unfit for consumption. It may not sound like much, but it's enough to keep their delivery van running. It's worth noting, however, that this kind of initiative doesn't happen overnight - it takes a lot of time. The other advantage is ecological: there's less pollution and therefore less danger to the environment. It's an exciting initiative, to say the least, because what seemed like waste just a short while ago can now be used as biofuel. It's sulfur-free, non-toxic and, above all, 100% biodegradable.
