Discover the "Monoï route
After years of research, the secret of Polynesian beauty, soft skin and shiny hair has finally been discovered: Monoï de Tahiti. Originally from Polynesia, Monoï is an oil extracted from the flowers of the Tiare tree, which has been shown to have enormous nourishing properties. To share this discovery with the rest of the world, the Polynesian Chamber of Commerce organizes an annual tourist event called"La route du Monoï". Here's everything you need to know about the event.
What is the "Route du Monoï"?
Polynesia is home to a wealth of natural products with invaluable cosmetic properties. As a result, every year since June 2010, the Monoï Institute has organized an event in their homeland (Polynesia) to share their riches with the rest of the world. The event is called La route de monoï. By route, we mean a journey, an excursion or a series of stages to be discovered and explored.
La route du monoï thus refers to an excursion to the monoi-making grounds. It's open to all monoi enthusiasts, or at least those who are interested. The aim is to share with them the path of initiation into the methods of monoi oil production. It's an in-depth tour of the area, including tiare flower plantations, factories, botanical workshops, perfumeries... The monoi route comprises 22 stops, in other words, the tour is divided into 22 stages.
The stages of the "route du monoï
As mentioned above, the Monoi Route is made up of several stages, 22 in all, which is why some travelers don't complete the entire tour. There are three main stages: cultivation, production and use.

- Cultivation: this is the primary, introductory stage. The discovery of tiare plant cultivation and botanical workshops is therefore at the forefront. This first stage is divided into 8 stops (stops 8, 9, 14, 15, 17, 18, 19, 20), each with its own particularity;
- Manufacturing: Here we get to the heart of the tour, discovering traditional monoi manufacturing laboratories, factories, perfumeries and more. This stage is divided into 9 stops (stops 2, 4, 5, 6, 10, 11, 12, 13, 16).
- Use: the aim of this stage is to demonstrate the usefulness of monoi oil through the market. The tour takes in perfumeries, beauty salons and spas, among others. This final stage is divided into 5 stops (stops 1, 3, 7, 21, 22).
